Redemption
Redemption plays a role in The Kite Runner is that for Amir that is what he needed in his life, so he could move on. He needed to find redemption from what he had let happen to Hassan. Amir had spent years holding on to that horrible secret and always feeling guilty about it. Amir had to redeem himself for things that he had did to Hassan that were selfish and inconsiderate. For the kind of person he had been as a child and how it affected everyone that were around him. Redemption had been A way to be good again. Amir's way of finding redemption was going back to Kabul, where it all started, to save Hassan's son, his nephew, Sohrab. Redemption had been Sohrab. By doing this Amir would find forgiveness within himself and he would be healed from his guilty conscience. In addition, finding redemption had been everyone's peace making to the sins they had committed, this including Amir, Sanaubar, and Baba as well. This had saved their souls. Everyone had been able to find love and happiness in their life.
Amir Free Will 4
"I stepped out of the car and walked to the tall, wooden front gates of the house. I rang the bell but no buzz came -- still no electricity-- and i had to pound on the doors. A moment later, i heard terse voices from the other side and a pair of men toting Kalashnikovs answered the door." - Amir , The Kite Runner
Free will affects Amir with this quote because he decides to go to the house, where Sohrab is being held. To the house that is the nest of the merciless Taliban. He is going into the house to the people who he had just seen stone two people to death for their "horrible sin against god." Amir had knew that there could be a possible chance he was not coming out alive, but he chose to have courage to go right in no matter what. Amir is the showing true qualities of a hero, when he does this selfless act for Sohrab because he is risking everything to do this. He is putting all of his cowardice aside and finally deciding to take action for something he knew was wrong. He is deciding that he will not make the mistake of just doing nothing again. When he went and faced Assef he came out healed. The pain that Assef had caused, each hit on Amir, had ironically healed Amir at the same time. Choosing to walk in this house had saved Amir's soul.

"I looked at the round face in the Polaroid again, the way the sun fell on it. My brother's face. Hassan had loved me once, loved me in a way that no one ever had or ever would again. He was gone now, but a little part of him lived on. It was in Kabul. Waiting. I found Rahim Khan praying namaz. I told him i was going to Kabul." -Amir , The Kite Runner
Amir went to go rescue his nephew in Kabul Sohrab. When he decides to do this he is finally being a man and choosing to stand up for something. He is doing this to redeem himself from his past sins committed against Hassan. Amir know's by saving Hassan's little boy from the hell that Afghanistan had become he will be saving himself. Sohrab was his last chance at redemption. His salvation. To be good again. Amir will have made up his mistakes through Sohrab. Each day with Sohrab will be beautiful because Sohrab saved his life both physically and mentally. Amir will be at peace and finally be able to move on with his life. With Sohrab along by his side.
Amir Free Will 2
" I was a liar, a cheat, and a thief . And I would have told, except that a part of me glad. Glad that this would all be over with soon." -Amir , The Kite Runner
Amir decided to frame Hassan for stealing his watch and money. When Hassan had said yes to stealing the money, Amir realized that he had knew everything. This had affected Amir because he knew how awful of a person he was being to Hassan. To Ali. To the two people who would never hurt him and showed him nothing but kindness. He knew now much pain he causing because Hassan and Ali had been family to him. Now, Amir had again chose to be a coward and not tell everybody the truth about the watch, money, and what had happened in the alley. Amir had planted one more terrible secret within him and that he had to live with.
Amir Free Will 1
"I had one last chance to make a decision. One final opportunity to decide who i was going to be. I could step into that alley, stand up for Hassan-- the way he'd stood up for me all those times in the past-- and accept whatever would happen to me. Or I could run. In the end, I ran." -Amir, The Kite Runner
Free will affects Amir with this quote because when he chooses to run away, he is choosing to run away from Hassan. From a friend who had always been there for him and if had to would give up his life for him. From an opportunity to stand up for Hassan for once. From a chance not to be a coward and have the courage to stand up to Assef. Instead, Amir chose to turn his back on Hassan. As a result, Amir had so much guilt filling up inside him like a pain that just would not go away. He had felt horrible about himself, for knowing what happened to Hassan, and knowing he chose to do nothing about it. This decision to simply just run away had shaped Amir's life and unleashed a world of heartbreak, lies, and a guilty conscience for him.
